Job Description:

The Quality Technician will provide technical quality support for key processes to include but not limited to electrical components, metal joining/welding, powder coating and general assembly. He/She will verify that incoming, in-process, and fully assembled material meets Tesla specifications. He/she is responsible for conducting process audits, inspecting material, and coordinating MRB activities, including data input, reporting, and logistics. The Quality Technician will work closely with Quality Engineering to provide reports, charts, graphs etc to monitor and improve product quality.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain quality inspection key points and propose necessary updates based on audit findings and product design changes
  • Manage nonconforming material through the MRB process to ensure that nonconforming material is identified, appropriately dispositioned, tracked, and reported
  • Provide mechanical measurement support to identify or solve potential material issues
  • Conduct regular process audits to identifying non-conforming material and deviations from acceptable process
  • Assist quality engineer in containment activities and material sort activities
  • Work with process engineers and technicians to define and implement countermeasures to top causes of quality defects
  • Inspection/verification of in-process, Tesla built material
  • Document audit results, report out on findings, and recommend improvements

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2000 or TS16924 a plus
  • 1 – 3+ years of experience in a Manufacturing Quality Control environment
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Word
  • Detail oriented and extremely organized
  • Ability to manipulate and interpret data, especially SPC charts, control charts, and Pareto charts
  • Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals (voltage, current, resistance)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in root cause analysis and implementation of short/long term countermeasures
  • Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical and electrical drawings
