Job Description:
Telsa’s Austin, Texas based cell manufacturing engineering group is looking for a highly-motivated manufacturing engineer to accelerate our next generation battery cell manufacturing program. This role will be involved in the design, development, commissioning and ramping of high-speed automated equipment, while working in a cross-functional team to test, validate, and roll-out process and product design changes.

Job Responsibilities:
- Build training material, maintenance routines, and related documentation for equipment life cycle management
- Lead safety and ergonomic improvements to production equipment which meets or exceeds regulations or best practices.
- Participate in supplier/ internal equipment FAT and SAT
- Design and re-design production part loading, feeding and conveying equipment to add functionality and improve productivity
- Work collaboratively as the equipment expert to ensure feeding, part handling and conveyance systems used in production lines run in a safe, efficient manner producing high quality parts.
- Troubleshoot and recover processes associated with the feeding, handling and conveyance of parts using PLC, HMI, or tool management software, and implement changes/improvements
- Provide hands-on support to maintenance team to troubleshoot and resolve extended downtime situations.
- Identify equipment critical spare parts and ensure sufficient coverage to prevent extended downtime situations
- Become owner of data management effectiveness and reliability for automated active mover/transport systems
- Develop and manage FMEA risk assessments to prioritize equipment improvement projects and ensure sufficient repair strategies.
- Become owner / subject matter expert to drive equipment-related process improvement including detailed troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Drive design, development and commissioning ramp of part feeding, material handling/loading and active mover or linear motion conveyance systems used in custom high speed automated manufacturing equipment that is the first of its kind at Tesla
- Debug and optimize automated processes to reduce cycle times and maximize OEE.
