Job Description:

As a Fabric Technologist, you’ll be responsible for introducing fabric management into our garment manufacturing process, supporting ASOS in moving from a reactive to a strategic and proactive process. You’ll focus on development and approval of fabric qualities at the development stage to help us to reduce lead times, reduce the need for testing, increase efficiency and secure adherence to ASOS’ fabric quality standards.

Job Requirements:

  • You’ll introduce a Fabric Development function by working together with Design, Buying and Sourcing and oversee the fabric approval process
  • You’ll oversee developments, filter newness in fibres / yarns / dyestuff technologies
  • You’ll manage a bulk-approved Fabric qualities library
  • You’ll ensure that there is high quality and consistency on the global manufacturing scale by using approved core fabrics for bulk production
  • Working closely with the wider Fabric Compliance team, you’ll formulate the strategy to deliver “fast response” fabrics, including the rollout of a ‘Smart Testing’ protocol
  • You’ll drive Technical & Chemical performance for fabric quality identified at an early stage, ensuring that sampling fabrics are available and preventing us from designing on fabrics which we cannot afford or are the wrong base
  • You’ll work with the wider Fabric Compliance team to formulate and implement a Mill Fabric strategy, so that we know where our fabrics come from and proud to ensure that fabric quality meets customer expectations and in turn, reduce customer returns. You’ll work with and educate our fabric suppliers on ASOS requirements / standards, before ordering fabrics and trims, to reduce lead times and quality issues
